Flat Sheet / Top Sheet

The Flat Sheet, also called the top sheet, is placed on top of the fitted sheet, and in between yourself and your blanket or duvet cover. Its purpose is both to keep you warm and to protect your blanket or duvet cover from getting dirty. At the same time, some hotels don’t use Fitted sheet and use flat sheet instead, hence you can see the size difference given, the first size is used when there is a fitted on the bed and the flat is used only as a top sheet, while the second size is used to tuck inn the mattress therefore a much larger sheet is required.
